Common Names: Pacific Seahorse

Characteristics: Long sleek looking seahorse with a long tail. Appearance is similar to H. reidi. Colors range from black, brown, maroon, red, orange yellow to olive green. When markings are visible, they may have dark spots to tiny white spots or fine lines running vertically down the body.

Distribution: Pacific coast of North and South America. They range from the cool waters off the California coast to the very warm waters near the equator.

Habitat: Commonly found in sea grasses, in reefs on sponges and corals or along rocky shores.

Size: May reach up to 12 inches. The size can be deceiving since this is a slender seahorse with a very long tail.

Sexual Maturity: Approximately 6 to 8 months. Gestation approximately 2 weeks. Can have very large broods. Their fry are pelagic.

Minimum Tank Size Recommendations: 25 - 30 gallons for a pair. 40 - 50 gallons for 2 pairs.

Water Temperature: 68 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. 20 to 26 degrees Celsius.

Note: We do not breed this species at our facility. These are Captive Bred imported from Mexico. They have been checked and certified disease free at time of receipt.
